The top fourth common crime against women in India is Rape. In 2013, the national crime records bureau (NCRB) annual reported that, across India 24,923 rape cases were reported in 2012. Now, India is described as the lowest per ca-pita rates of rape. In India, most of the rapes are not even reported. Women now got the courage to report about rape. These rape cases triggered public as well as media, to take action against these rape cases. Finally, the government of India pass a penal code for rape crimes and sexual assault. NCRB 2015 states that, Madhya Pradesh has the highest
number of rape cases in compared to other Indian states. According to Human Rights, more than 7200 minors are being raped each year in India. The fear of retaliation and humiliation, most rape cases go unreported in India. Few states in India tried to make a complete survey of unreported rapes. The police of some states requested the government to install street lights and teach self-defense as a part of school curriculum. According to the survey 2043 rape cases and 3175 molestation cases were reported in 2018.
With the survey report of 2019, the government got horrifying result that there was no lack of rape cases in India. In-fact, they could find one rape cases almost everyday. A list of the most terrifying rape cases which were recorded in 2019.

- In Andhra pradesh, a gang of 6 raped 16-year-girl for 5 days being locked in a room. Police apprehended the accused of raping her from different parts of states for further investigation.
- A lady doctor from Hyderabad named Dr. Priyanka Reddy was brutally raped and burnt under Chatanpally bridge in shadnagar on Thursday 28 November 2019. four men who were from Narayanpet raped, smothered and burnt. Hyderabad police detained those four men and shot them while they were running from police.
- In bihar, a gang of 6 men forcibly entered their house and took both the father and daughter to a secluded place. Father was tied up with a rope and her 19-year-old daughter was raped in front of him by the gang. Both father and daughter were threatened to be killed if they told anyone about this. the police directed to arrest those 6 accused rapers.
4. A 11-year-old girl was raped and murdered with bricks in Unnao district in Uttar Pradesh. her father and neighbors found her body badly crushed lying in an orchard. police registered this act under the cases of rape and murder under the protection of children from sexual offences act (POCSO).
5. In Telangana, a 9 month old girl was taken away by a man to a deserted place while the baby was asleep and he badly assaulted the baby. Police suspected this cases to be a rape and murder cases against the accused one. A cases of penal code offences including kidnap was also registered.
Sexual violence is an obstacle to peace and security. Women don't fell safe and secure in participating any type of outside work. As a result of rape, many women lost their health, livelihood and family. The incident lingers in such a way that the rape victim can't even overcome from their incidents no matter how much time has passed. So, our government of India established new directions to improve the rape measurement and sexual assault. Lastly, the Home Minister stated that "This is a horrendous crime, we will take different steps to ensure such incidents not recurs".
