On 23th December 2014, Jharkhand legislative assembly election was held in 5 sections between 25th November to 20th December. The results were out in which the Bharatiya Jananta Party (BJP) won the elections. For the first time BJP got 43 out of 81 votes which is 2 more than required majority. Raghubar Das from BJP being the representative leader for jharkhand ruled for the next 5 year (2014 to 2019). On 3th January 2015, the legislative assembly of jharkhand came to an end. As the 10th chief minister of jharkhand, Raghubar Das sworn in on 28th December 2014.
In 2019 election, candidate Saryu Rai pushed chief minister Raghubar Das to the second position. Raghubar Das was lacking in 7484 votes from east Jamshedpur. whereas, the chief minister candidate Hemant Soren of jharkhand mukhti morcha (JMM)party was behind by just 2750 votes from Dumka constituency and he got a lead in Bairhat set. As the pressure was building up, Raghubar Das dismissed those trends with directed towards the glory of the opposition party over BJP by saying that his government will come back to power in jharkhand. The segments of assembly which went to the polls in second phase of Jharkhand were taken away by the JMM party which pushed the BJP party to the second position.
The former minister Saryu Rai from JMM which has combined their party with the Congress party has got the victory over BJP from east Jharkhand. Raghubar Das was lacking behind Saryu Rai from 4643 votes. Still, Raghubar Das stated that, "We are not only winning but we will also form government under the BJP leadership". Saryu Rai was giving a neck -to- neck challenge to Raghubar Das in east Jharkhand. When BJP declined the poll ticket to the veteran leader, the JMM candidate Saryu Rai questioned the election as an independent candidate. Raghubar Das who had a stronghold on east Jharkhand since 1995, lost his position against Saryu Rai. Now, we have got a new government, Saryu Rai from JMM will be ruling east Jamshedpur for next Five years.
